MODEL 5060A / 5060B — Wattmeter Test Kit
General Description
The Model 5060A and 5060B Wattmeter Test Kits accurately measure forward and reflected power in coaxial transmission lines. These portable insertion-type instruments are essential test equipment when installing, testing, and maintaining data telemetry sites.
The Model 5060A includes a wattmeter, one broadband lock-in-place element, and the Model 5060S Adaptor Set. The wattmeter provides five power ranges from 5 to 500 watts over 25 to 1000 MHz. The Adaptor Set provides a variety of cable connectors, a dummy load, and a short cable for typical ALERT systems. The Model 5060B’s frequency range and power level are determined by a plug-in element; it includes the wattmeter, a 25 watt VHF or UHF plug-in element, and the Model 5060S Adaptor Set.
Proper RF power measurement is a critical step in commissioning and maintaining any ALERT or ALERT2 flood warning network. Excessive reflected power — caused by damaged cables, corroded connectors, or improperly matched antennas — reduces the effective transmission range of a station and can lead to data loss during storm events.
